We are delighted to welcome you to the official Marinakis Music blog, dedicated to delivering

all information related to the creation of our instruments, strings, new products, and anything

involving our goals and vision at Marinakis Music.

We have been working very hard to create the best tools for musicians to find their own voice

and identity through our craft, just as Georgios Marinakis, our founder, envisioned when he

started Marinakis Music. Dissatisfied with the options at hand, Georgios embarked on a

personal journey to find his own sound and voice. He began creating his own instruments,

beginning with the oud, before learning to make strings. Subsequently, he felt inspired to offer

his knowledge and expertise to new and exciting musicians who were lost in their search for

perfectly crafted instruments and strings to fit their vision and artistic needs.

The Marinakis Music blog is a portal for all things Marinakis related. Here, we look at our latest

products and discuss topics related to the Middle Eastern stringed instruments community.

The blog consists of articles, reviews, news, and interviews that aim to satisfy any need you,

the reader, should have regarding topics such as choosing an instrument, the qualities of those

instruments, interviews, and much, much more. Here, expect regular uploads with our latest

news, detailed information on products in the making, and the way we at Marinakis Music are

moving forward with our vision and goals.

The first entries of the blog are dedicated to taking a look at the instruments we offer strings

for, explaining in detail the main characteristics and qualities they offer, giving you a clear

understanding of why that instrument would or would not be a great option as your first

stringed instrument, in case you had any doubt, or if you are already proficient on one, then

these entries might give you another insight into your own instrument… or some others you

might not be aware of! In these blog entries, called “Why you should play___”, we also go over

the qualities of the strings we offer for any instrument we are writing about.

In addition, the blog focuses on providing you with the information necessary to have a broad

understanding of why certain instruments sound like they do, how to tune and properly use

them, and what to expect of certain types of strings, tunings, and configurations. We will also

be conducting a series of interviews on some of the most interesting and promising new faces

in the Middle Eastern string community, all over the world, getting an insight into their

creative process, approach to their instrument, influences, tips, and behind-the-scenes looks at

their current projects.
